After the independence of Indonesia NISV handed over the Boscha Observatory to the Indonesian government, precisely on 17 October 1951. Then after Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) was established in 1959, Bosscha Observatory officially became part of ITB and functioned as a formal research and education institution Astronomy.
